We are sleep-walking,
We are wake-walking
We are dreaming.
There is no true awakening
Though endless opportunities
To become lucid;
To awaken within the dream.
It is then that we may be
All that we wish to dream.

Perhaps the dream of life and death is actually impermanent. If a so called heaven exists it may be a temporary state - like a well-earned vacation from the suffering of bodily existence. Whether experiencing heaven on earth or in the transitory state of the in-between, "Heaven" is also part of the dream. Some do believe that the dream is not truly eternal. Perhaps through several lifetimes of practicing selfless compassion, thoughtless stillness and unattatchment one achieves a true awakening whereby one's soul no longer desires bodily existence and so achieves the ability to not accept the invitation of rebirth into a single life form.
